Restore Natural movement. reduce pain
When pain or stiffness keeps returning despite your best efforts, it’s easy to feel stuck and frustrated. At Diane’s practice in Quarriers Village (30 mins from Glasgow), Anatomy in Motion (AiM) offers a fresh, whole-body approach to people from all across Scotland. AiM helps you uncover the real reason behind your discomfort.
Under the expert guidance of Scotland’s first Accredited AiM Practitioner, you can move freely, confidently, and without fear of it all coming back.
Reclaim Your Confidence.
If recurring pain, stiffness, or awkward movement keeps showing up no matter what you’ve tried, you’re not alone. Most therapies treat the sore spot — but your body tells a bigger story.
Anatomy in Motion (AiM) digs deeper and helps your body rediscover its natural flow, easing pain and restoring balance through guided movement. You don’t just feel better — you move better. AiM helps your body heal itself through movement.
What Is Anatomy in Motion (AiM)?
Founded by renowned movement specialist Gary Ward, Anatomy in Motion (AiM) is an approach that looks at the interconnectedness of the entire body. It recognises that your upper body biomechanics are deeply influenced by your lower body — and vice versa. The toes can affect the neck, the foot can limit the spine, and the wrist can influence the pelvis. Everything moves together.
Gary describes AiM beautifully:
“Anatomy in Motion helps you understand and overcome your movement limitations. By addressing the root causes of your physical and postural adaptations, you can realign, rebalance, and unlock your full movement potential. We call it Finding Centre — the midpoint of all movement, where calm and maximum potential coexist. We get the body to do the healing – through movement.”
Why Most Approaches Fall Short
Most treatments focus on the area that hurts — but pain rarely starts there.
Traditional therapies often isolate one joint, muscle or area at a time.
Pain relief fades because the underlying movement patterns haven’t changed.
Without restoring whole-body balance, tension and compensation persist.
AiM looks beyond the site of pain to uncover the root cause: which movements have been lost, and where your body has been compensating. Once we restore those missing links, your body can reorganise itself — naturally.

Flow Motion Model
At the core of AiM lies Gary Ward’s Flow Motion Model — a 3D map of how every bone and joint ideally moves during a single step.
In the 0.6–0.8 seconds it takes to walk one step, every joint in your body moves in all three dimensions. When even one part of that movement chain is restricted, it can create stress elsewhere — like ripples spreading across a pond.
By observing your gait through this model, we can see precisely which movements you’re missing and how to restore them. This gives us a clear direction for change — a roadmap back to effortless, balanced motion.
How an AiM Session Works
Step 1 – Assessment & Mapping
After an in-depth exploration of your history, we observe your resting posture, joint movements as well as watch you walk, tracking each joint’s movement through the Flow Motion Model.
Step 2 – Bespoke Guided Movement Cues
You’re gently guided into positions your body has forgotten — not stretching or strengthening, but re-educating movement.
Step 3 – System Reset
As the missing movement returns, the body naturally redistributes load. Pressure is naturally taken away from painful areas and they can finally relax as balance is restored.
Step 4 – Integration
We help your body make these new patterns your “new normal,” so you can move with confidence and freedom every day.
Who can AiM Help?
AiM is helpful for people with:
chronic back, neck, or shoulder pain (or any joint pain)
TMJ (jaw), posture or gait issues
persistent tension/niggles/pain unresolved with other therapies
mobility limitations and reduced balance
frequent setbacks leading to dependence on short term fixes
recurring injuries who wish to reduce injury risk
performance plateaus e.g. in running and various sports
AiM is especially effective if you’ve been chasing pain around your body, ‘tried everything’ like massage, physio and strength work before, but something still feels ‘not quite right’.
