YOGA
Yoga is a mind and body practice. I teach Hatha Raja yoga - a combination of physical postures, breathing techniques, meditation and relaxation to promote mental and physical well-being. I have been teaching yoga since 2018 after completing the Yoga Alliance Professionals 200 hour Yoga Teacher Training as taught by Yoga Jo’s.
One reason why yoga is so popular is that it helps you feel harmonious, integrated and complete. As you learn to practise finding your centre in a yoga posture, you practise finding centre in other areas of your life too. In a broader sense, the practice of yoga can train you to deal better with life events.
Yoga is actually a state of mind. The word yoga comes from the Sanskrit word yuj which can be translated ‘to unite, to join, to connect’. Think body, mind and spirit. Yoga can also be defined as ‘stilling the mind’. Achieving this state of mind is a rather intangible goal for most of us. However, when you start regularly moving your body in harmony with your breath, your body will become more receptive to the profound experience of inner stillness.
